Hilltop Retreat Valley Forge, PA

This landscape is inspired by the clients second home in the regions of Tuscany.  The centerpiece of the hilltop landscape is an infinity edge pool, which faces due west and provides many moods through out a typical day as well through the summer and early fall . A formal pergola provides relief from the heat as well as a strong architectural presence.   Field stone seat walls flank a flagstone patio.  Generous steps lead to a travertine terrace that provides an area for poolside relaxation.

A waterfall is flanked by boulder walls, which were lifted into place by heavy equipment. Other features include a computerized telescope for stargazing, a two-sided fireplace that services both the covered porch and formal living room and a gas fire pit to warm up cool September nights.  The evenings take on a personality of their own via well placed landscape lighting.

The landscape features a naturalistic man made steam, pond and waterfall, as well as strategically place shade trees, flowering trees, a plethora of shrubs, ornamental grasses and a variety of perennials and ground covers.
